Yes, Kreeft is a Catholic. He converted from the Presbyterian Church while in college. His professor told him that the early church writings show that the early Christians believed like John Calvin. Kreeft wanted to verify that, so he read the ECFs and discovered that they were all Catholics. So he converted. He tells the story about it in one of his lectures.
Ok, I'm going to have to listen for that. Thank you for explaining that. I can honestly say I don't know much about Calvinism. So, that there is another thing for me to look up thank you
But like most of the growing number of well-known evangelicals that are converting to the Catholic faith, he is very ecumenical. He does not have the "us vs them" mindset, but is more like "let's talk and get together". But Kreeft is very orthodox. His Catholic Christianity, a condensation of the Catechism, may be one of the most easily understandable presentations of the Catholic faith around.
Oooh cool. Thank you for sharing this.
The us vs them mentality is one of the scarier things about religion and I think it's one of the things that yes, people are straying from (depending on the branch of religion I suppose).
Thomas Howard is a good friend of Kreeft. He converted to the Catholic faith some years ago. He came from a prominent evangelical family.
J Budziszewski, another high-profile evangelical, just converted to the Catholic faith in 2004. He is a political theorist and a master of Natural Law, and an author.
Just this past May, Francis J. Beckwith, president of the Evangelical Theological Society, an association of 4,300 Protestant theologians, resigned his post and became a Roman Catholic.

That is indeed interesting. Thank you for sharing these things, I am curious to learn more about them and the path that led them to where they are now.
I remember reading about a gentleman converting to the Catholic faith after researching the matter of contraception and when he found solid scriptural basis for it, he and his wife converted.
I think religion is the one thing that we will be the basis for so much of what we do in our life...isn't it important to know WHY we're doing what we're doing? So reading these stories for me are fascinating. I have to read the most recent additions to Jeff's page, I love the conversion stories on his page. I have read a few more than once.
Anyway, thank you for sharing these Tom.
Anne, I've been caught up in getting some work done the last few days and have not had a chance to watch the videos, but I will do so and then let you know my thoughts on them.
Thank you for providing the links.
